J. Edward Hair is a shared salon space built for creativity and independence. Each stylist runs their own business, bringing their unique style, skill, and energy to the space, while sharing a common goal: helping you look and feel your best.

The Story Of Our Space

After graduating in 2007, I began my professional career at The Alan DelMonte Salon, where I spent two foundational years (2007–2009) refining my skills, building confidence behind the chair, and developing the advanced color and extension techniques I’m known for today.

From 2009 to 2017, I continued to grow at Captiva Salon in Milford, where I deepened my expertise in color formulation, corrective work, and the art of understanding each client’s unique needs. This period shaped much of my philosophy around healthy, personalized, integrity-focused haircare.

In 2017, I took a leap of faith and launched J. Edwards Hair, originally as a small studio before expanding into a full-size salon in Orange, Connecticut in 2018. This expansion allowed me to bring my vision to life—creating a space rooted in high-quality products, elevated service, and a warm, welcoming environment where clients can truly relax.

At the end of 2024, I made the decision to expand my reach beyond my own walls. Two days a month, I now share my expertise with the talented team at Rooted Salon in Middlefield, CT, where I mentor new stylists, lead classes, and continue working with clients. It has become a meaningful extension of my career, allowing me to help guide the next generation of stylists while staying connected to the community.

Since opening J Edwards Hair in 2017, Jonathan has cultivated a salon experience centered on luxury, relaxation, and elevated results. He remains committed to ongoing education and investing in the highest-quality products to ensure clients receive the very best the industry offers. Outside of the salon, Jonathan lives in Middletown with his husband, Matthew—together for 13 years and married for 3—and their pets Echo, Charlie, and Luca. He loves traveling, hosting game nights, spending time with friends, and starting his day with a triple espresso over ice with oat milk and caramel syrup. For Jonathan, doing hair is far more than a profession—it’s a chance to connect, uplift, and give every client the confidence they deserve.
